Tickets that cost more than the fine

A speeding ticket looks small until it shows up on an insurance bill, a commercial license or a record that already carries points.

Rania handles speeding and red-light tickets, driving without insurance, driving while suspended, reckless driving charges, and tickets for commercial drivers. She tells you whether a ticket is worth contesting before you pay her to contest it.

Ticket questions

Should I just pay the ticket?

In most courts paying is a guilty plea, and the conviction goes on your record. Ask first: sometimes paying is the right call, and sometimes it isn't.

I drive for a living. Is a ticket different for me?

Yes. A commercial license can be disqualified for violations that would only cost another driver points, even ones you get in your own car.

Is reckless driving a criminal charge?

In most places, yes. It can carry jail time and a record, and it's sometimes offered in place of a DUI. Know what it means for you before you accept it.
